But there are some aspects in this mural that made me look twice (and three and four times, and then eventually stop and take a photo). There is, of course, a religious aspect to it. The figure to the left is holding the communion host. The group on the right is praying with eyes closed and hands laid on.
To me, this mural communicates a sense of community. There is diversity; there is sharing; there is blessing; there is love. Recently, I have realized that images resonate with me in a special way. This is an image that I pass frequently, and I want to be aware of the feelings that arise when I see it. I want to recognize, and try to hold onto the sense of community and belonging I feel when I see this image.
