Hulu and the Christmas Grouch

I've been hearing and seeing a lot about hulu, a free video viewing website, and one of the first videos that came up (of course after Brittney Spears, *hurl*) was this old Sesame Street with Oscar singing about how he hates Christmas.

This is such a funny video, and obviously over the top, but the truth is, I'm not a big fan of all the "Holiday" junk that's all over the place this time of year. The commercials are so cheesy, the carols are so repetitive, the decorations are so cheap - Sometimes I feel like Oscar the Christmas Grouch, and I've got a reputation for being a bit of a Scrooge at school.

No positive ending to this post - I just thought this video really fit my Christmas personality....sometimes :)

Best line: (referring to Santa) "I'll tell him where to put his toys"

He's so right, though. This video is over the top, sure, but so is basically everything we've done to Christmas. Commercials, music non-stop from before Thanksgiving, lame-ass decorations, phony cheerfulness. Give me a break. I'm glad Jesus was born, too, but I don't think I need the excess of the holiday to prove it.

Jeez, I'm a grouch, aren't I? Oh, well. Give me a gift-free gathering with some of my loved ones, a bit of the NT birth story, and plenty of time to enjoy each other's company, and I'm all set.
