Well it isn't nearly as bad as I expected. I guess just that if the members have to be told they are expected to come than they probably are expected to feel guilty about not coming and the purpose of church shouldn't be to make people feel guilty about all their shortcomings and things they should do, but a place to experience the forgiveness of Jesus.
I also wonder what message it sends to the visitors though - you are welcome, and we'll be nice to you, but you really should become a member and then our relationship changes. Interesting to think about how churches treat members and visitors differently.
