Having a good day

Lots of things to be thankful for today. Things are going well, so I'll share a little update.

Aleli continues to grow and get stronger. She is handling her food well (she is fed through a tube in her mouth down to her stomach), and digesting most of what she is given. Yesterday the nurses took off her CPAP breathing mask, so we got to see her beautiful face! She continues to breathe well and have good oxygen levels. If all stays the same, they will take out her IV tonight, so all she will have is her feeding tube and her monitoring wires! She is already proving to be a strong-willed, tough little girl. Clearly taking after her mom.

Speaking of Kel, she is having a good day as well. I called the hospital and was able to refund the $100 for the childbirth class we had scheduled for October. We thought that class would be sort of useless now, and nothing makes Kel happier than getting money.

This morning she received an email from a teacher friend whom she worked with at the bilingual school. The teacher said that she had received the long-term sub position for Kellye's classroom. This is great news for Kel because she knows and trusts this teacher, and Kellye is very concerned about having to leave her class in such a rush. When she heard about her sub she said, "only God could have arranged that!" I could visibly see the stress fall off of her as she finally knew she didnt have to worry about her classroom.

Kel saw her doctor, and things are ok. We'll go back weekly for a bit, but no major concerns. We caught a quick but very tasty lunch at First Watch, and now (as I blog) she is being pampered with a mani-pedi, thanks to a great Groupom deal!

So, today things are going well. We aware that things could change very quickly, and that there are bumps and hurdles ahead. But today, we are enjoying a good day.

Great news about the long-term sub. One less thing to be on Kellye's mind at this time. I am glad she had the blessing of being pampered a little today. Every new mother needs to take time for that but sometimes it's hard to find the time to do it. You're a great husband, Jesse, and I can see how the Lord is using you to bless your family! Take care!!

This whole post made me smile. So glad to hear about the refund, the sub, Aleli and that Kellye's doing well.
