Professional Helpers

A quote from my reading this week (Social Work Practice With Children, by Webb, 2003):

"Some children not only survive but actually do well despite all to the contrary. Often, the influence of one adult makes enough impact to tip the balance of negative environment in a child's life. Although these 'invulnerable children' are exceptional, their life experience argues for the positive impact of professional helpers on the lives of at-risk children who are 'vulnerable.'"
